June, 1987 - An institution of higher learning was established at Mabini St.,Cotabato City, the DR.P. OCAMPO INSTITUTE, INC., founded by DR. PEDRO S. OCAMPO, JR. It started with a simple dream, nurtured by time, inspired by persistence thus, turning a vision into reality.
Associate in Radiologic Technology was initially offered with 30 enrollees under the management of the founder and some Faculty Members. Five months later, another course was created: the Two-year Junior Medical Secretarial. June ,1988— Dr. P. Ocampo Institute, Inc. moved to its present site at De Mazenod Avenue Extension, Cotabato City and occupied a one-storey concrete building and; June, 1991 – The following programs were offered: Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (BSRT), Midwifery and a Two-year Nursing Aide. Due to the different programs offered, Dr. P. Ocampo Institute, Inc. is no longer an appropriate name thus, the owner/founder amended it to DR. P. OCAMPO COLLEGES, INC in January, 1992 and;
The following programs were offered: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) in June, 1993. Development plans continued with the construction of the new building to accommodate the increasing population. July, 1999 - Dr. P. Ocampo Hospital was established and operated purposely for the training ground of the students taking up health related courses.
After a decade of educational experience, DPOCI has brought a big difference and innovations in the curricular offerings and in; June, 2000 - Academic programs were expanded with additional new courses. Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED).
The Basic Education department was opened for enrolment in June, 2001 to cater the school age children in the community and as a Laboratory Schools for the Pre-Service Teachers. DPOCI continues to strive for greater opportunities and challenges thus; it venture in vocational courses cognizant to the present demand of Care Givers abroad. It formally opened on May, 2002 with the Three-month Care giver Training program and later upgraded to Six-month Training Program.
Pursuing to its mandate for quality service and excellence, the school applied for TESDA Accreditation for Care Giver and was successfully granted as the First Assessment Center for Care Givers in Region X11 on the same year. June, 2007 - True to its commitments and to its stakeholders, the school constructed a new 4 storey building to be used for an expanding population of the Basic Education Department.
The Board of Trustees unanimously decided to offer Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim) in June, 2008 to respond to the demand of the changing time, on interdisciplinary fields of Criminal Justice system, nationally and globally and Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Course was introduced on June, 2009.
Through the years, the school has been actively involved in providing educational transformation aimed at attaining professional competence and ethics, social awareness and sense of Filipino Culture needed for leadership in Philippine development. It continues to produce quality graduates who can globally compete with the changing world and its loyalty stand with its vision mission.
